2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
We respect your privacy boundaries. We do not collect precise location data (GPS), access your contacts, read your messages or emails, or monitor your web browsing outside the App. Furthermore, we do not access your camera or microphone without explicit, prior consent, and we do not collect sensitive data such as health, racial, or religious information.
3. How We Store Your Data
3.1 Local Storage
The majority of your learning data is stored locally on your device. This ensures privacy and offline capability. This includes your learning progress, vocabulary library, streaks, and application preferences.
3.2 Cloud Storage
To provide account synchronization and premium features, the following data is stored on secure external servers:
- Authentication Data: Email addresses and Google Sign-In metadata (managed securely by Google Firebase).
- Subscription Data: Premium status, purchase history, and subscription validity (managed securely by RevenueCat).
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information exclusively for the following purposes:
- Content Personalization: Tailoring vocabulary, lessons, and tests to your selected grade level and difficulty.
- Progress Tracking: Maintaining your scores, learning streaks, and achievements.
- Subscription Management: Verifying premium status, processing in-app purchases, and restoring subscriptions.
- Service Improvement: Analyzing aggregated, anonymous usage patterns to fix bugs and improve user experience.
- Communications: Sending requested daily learning reminders via push notifications.
- Advertising: Serving relevant ads to non-premium users.
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
5. Advertising & Analytics
To support the development of WordWise and keep the core features free, we display advertisements to users who do not have an active Premium subscription.
5.1 Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
We use Google AdMob to serve various ad formats, including Interstitial ads (full-screen), Rewarded ads (optional ads for unlocking content), and App Open ads. AdMob may collect and use your device's Advertising Identifier, IP address, and interaction metrics to provide contextual or personalized advertisements.
5.2 Opting Out of Ads
You can remove all advertisements by purchasing a Premium subscription within the App. Additionally, you can limit ad tracking at the device level:
- iOS Devices: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, and toggle off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" for WordWise.
- Android Devices: Go to Settings > Google > Ads, and select "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
6. Subscriptions & Payments
WordWise offers In-App Purchases for premium features. We utilize RevenueCat to securely manage cross-platform subscriptions.
Important Note on Payment Processing: All financial transactions are processed securely and directly by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via the Google Play Store). We do not collect, process, or store your credit card details or billing information on our servers.
7. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate our application. These providers have their own Privacy Policies addressing how they handle your data:
- Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication. (Privacy Policy)
- Google AdMob: Used for advertising monetization. (Privacy Policy)
- RevenueCat: Used for subscription infrastructure. (Privacy Policy)
- Expo: Used for app framework and push notifications. (Privacy Policy)
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
WordWise is an educational tool designed for a broad demographic, including students from elementary to high school.
Protecting the privacy of young users is highly important to us. We operate in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR-K:
- We do not require users to create an account to use the core learning features of the App.
- We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information (PII) from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) without verifiable parental consent.
- The App does not feature public chat rooms, social messaging, or public user-generated content, mitigating the risk of inadvertent data sharing by minors.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that we have inadvertently collected personal data from your child without appropriate consent, please contact us immediately at support.wordwise@gmail.com. We will take prompt steps to delete such information securely from our systems.
9. Data Deletion & Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, restrict, or delete your personal data. You can exercise your right to data deletion at any time:
9.1 Deleting Local Data
You can instantly delete all locally stored data (progress, vocabulary, scores) by either clearing the App's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the application entirely.
9.2 Deleting Account & Cloud Data
If you have registered an account via Firebase or have subscription data stored in the cloud, you can request full account deletion by:
- Sending an email with the subject "Data Deletion Request" to support.wordwise@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account.
